  • 55 g caster sugar
  • 1 tsp ground mixed spice

  • 150 g gluten-free 1:1 flour blend
  • 150 g cold unsalted butter diced
  • 60 g light muscovado sugar
  • 50 g gluten-free oats
  • Pinch of salt

Method
 

  1. Prepare the Apple Filling:
  2. Preheat oven to 180°C (fan).
  3. In a saucepan, combine diced apples, caster sugar, and mixed spice.
  4. Cook over medium heat for 3-5 minutes until apples start to soften.
  5. Transfer to an ovenproof dish and spread evenly.
  6. Make the Crumble Topping:
  7. In a mixing bowl, combine gluten-free flour and diced butter.
  8. Rub butter into flour using fingertips until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
  9. Stir in muscovado sugar, oats, and salt.
  10. Assemble and Bake:
  11. Evenly sprinkle the crumble mixture over the apple filling.
  12. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the top is golden and crisp.
  13. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
