Salted Caramel Brownies

Ingredients
  

  • For the Brownies:
  • 250 g unsalted butter
  • 200 g white sugar
  • 100 g all-purpose flour
  • 50 g cocoa powder
  • 4 large eggs
  • 200 g dark chocolate minimum 52% cocoa solids
  • For the Salted Caramel Sauce:
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp sea salt

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the Brownie Batter
  • Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • Melt the butter and dark chocolate together in a heatproof bowl over simmering water. Stir until smooth.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together sugar and eggs until smooth and glossy.
  • Fold in the flour and cocoa powder until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Make the Salted Caramel Sauce
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the sugar, stirring constantly.
  • Add butter and mix until fully combined.
  • Slowly pour in the heavy cream while stirring. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until thickened.
  • Remove from heat and stir in sea salt. Let cool slightly.
  • Assemble the Brownies
  • Pour half of the brownie batter into a greased 9x9-inch baking dish.
  • Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the batter.
  • Pour the remaining brownie batter on top and smooth it out.
  • Drizzle the remaining caramel and swirl with a knife for a marbled effect.
  • Bake
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Serving & Storage
  • Slice into 12 squares. Serve with ice cream or a drizzle of extra caramel sauce.
